News ReleasesMarch 18, 2010 The leading Russian payment system CyberPlat® has implemented the first in Russia project on replenishment of deposits through the own payment acceptance networkUntil recently, the capabilities of the payment systems were being used by banks only for replenishment of card accounts of the clients and for loan repayment. At the same time, from the point of view of complying with the legislation, these transactions were not quite legal until January 1, 2010. Such kind of transactions became absolutely legal only this year, when the changes in the legislation (entry into force of the Federal Law of the Russian Federation No. 121, dd. June 03, 2009) allowed effecting of a part of banking transactions through retail and terminal networks. Deposit accounts have never been replenished through independent networks and payment acceptance outlets. The first project in Russia on replenishing the deposit accounts in the real-time mode has been implemented in the network of the payment system CyberPlat® and the joint-stock bank Project Financing Bank has become the first bank which clients have obtained such an opportunity. In reality, the project implemented by the CyberPlat® payment system has started a new era in the banking industry and it will radically change the retail banking market already in the nearest future. The access to the wide network of the CyberPlat payment system will allow small and medium-size banks to compete on equal terms with large credit institutions having developed retail networks for deposits of the country population. Large retail banks, in case of their participation in the project of the CyberPlat® payment system, can considerably optimize their costs for attracting the money of the population. This will enable them to cut costs for creation and support of own sales network and in some cases it will provide a chance to reduce the number of bank branches. The banks, which will be the first to use the options of replenishing deposits in the CyberPlat® payment acceptance network consisting of more than 400,000 outlets in Russia and abroad, will obtain unprecedented competitive advantages. An opportunity to conveniently replenish ones deposit account at a “next corner” location and within seconds of the time spent for it will become a priority criterion for the clients as they choose a particular bank. At the same time, it will lead to the increase of balances on the deposit accounts that are already opened. Large retail networks – MTS retail network, Euroset, Svyaznoy, Eldorado, post offices of the federal state unitary enterprise Russian Post and many others – provide the basis for the Cyberplat® payment acceptance network. There is no bank not only in Russia but, probably, in the entire world that has such a developed payment infrastructure. We are certain that banks, that will be the first to work with replenishment of deposits through our network, and, in practice, through the trading retailers and terminal networks, have every chance to take the leading positions at the deposits attraction market. Everyone knows that revolutions happen sometimes. The transfer of deposits collection to the retailers – this is exactly the case. So, I would advice the banks not to miss it,” – noted Andrey Gribov, President and CEO, CyberPlat OJSC.
